How do I permanently disable Google Photos pop-up prompt to backup my photos? I

How do I permanently disable random Google Photos pop-up to backup my photos? I am a paying customer and definitely do not want to backup all my photos to cloud.

The pop-up is very annoying and apears at least 1 every week. Further mor after I reject, another pop-up shows up having my photos selected with a big button to backup. Small button to reject again. This is pretty invasive UX. The responsible project manager should be fired.  Feels like warez times from 2000s.

I hate it too. I assume some marketing guy must have found it a minor inconvenience, but it's a real pain.
These guys don't realize that having us saying F* Google every time this kind of popup appears, the word we end up always associating with the brand is not "Fine"

I love the warez analogy. The product manager at Google photos is shameless but they are just doing the math. For every 100 people they offend with this sleazy behavior, one person turning on backup is a net win.
FWIW, when this happens, close photos entirely and reopen it. You will have to do this every 5th time you access photos.
Also be sure to submit feedback in the app. When the sleazy manager retires a millionaire in two years, maybe someone more ethical will replace them. It's worth a try.

This has driven my crazy and I won't recommend a pixel because of it. It now opens the nag screen and freezes so I cannot go back or close the page. The only way out is to turn on back up or click learn more which opens another frozen page the only way out is to turn on backup.  I have to restart my phone. I guess some marketing MBA in google thinks their clients are so stupid that they would just give up and turn on backup???

Silver product expert giving an answer that is clearly wrong.  My notifications are already disabled and this annoying pop-up, which is automatically selected to backup, still pops up regardless of what your settings are.  Super annoying, if I want my settings changed then "I" will change them.  Wish it would just stop prompting me.

Google is about to lose me. They're definitely the greediest of corporations now. I guess that goes hand in hand with needing to please shareholders before customers.

this prompt block my access to thumbnails on my android phone. Blackview 9800.  Such a waste of work time, to find an old photo for a client.  Please stop!

As stated, this is 100% incorrect - this setting is unrelated to the pop-ups within the app and will do nothing to prevent them.

this is happening to my mother and she is really old, she is very anoyed and, given her age, she actually could accept by error, a hurry or even visual disability

Google! stealing money for very old people is one of the worst (and coward) things a offender can do, not to speak about a big corporation supposed to have high social responsibility standards...

This setting did not help . Today I got the same notification again prompting me to backup my photos.

What else can I do to turn the notification off? I am constantly running into risk of by mistake uploading my photos to cloud because of the invasive UX that is designed the way to make users do the mistake.

Martin.

Quit trying to steal my data because my hands shake. This popup is so insidious and should be illegal. Hands off my damn photos.

Having had to replace my phone recently, and given the replacement (a Samsung) has their Gallery app, i've decided to stop using Google Photos. That way I don't have to put up with the constant nagging (i've already blown my Google account up once by accidentally turning on photo sync).
Congrats Google, you're driving away your users.

This a 1000 times. My wife is pretty smart but it gets her every time and she has to ask me what to do. The UI is designed to trick people to sign up. Much bandwidth is used uploading videos and images and then they're conned into paying for more GB when the cloud storage fills up. We backup to our own home server and don't need this service.

Not only this, but how many times has Google offered a service only to yank the rug out from under users when they decide to dump it? This is the story of their entire existence. Even if I DID want to back up my photos with their cloud, how long will they be there? Not long, if Google's corporate history is any indication.

Found on reddit.. This works!
As others stated:
For anyone finding this post. One solution is to go into the settings of the Gallery, tapping on the arrow next to the account and opting to use the app without account.

PS: This is BY DESIGN. This practice has a name malicious UX design to trap people who don't care, old people, children..

You said gallery, you mean google photos app yes? I don't see the setting you're talking about

Can't stand this. Notifications and backups disabled and it still prompts to turn it on and defaults to enabled. If you do it by mistake and you have a lot of photos it runs your account out of storage and interrupts mail flow until you delete them or pay for storage. Most annoying part of my Pixel, other than this I like it.

I HATE this prompt and I hope everyone involved in it has wet socks for the rest of their lives.

Even more annoying is that it makes it super easy to accidentally proceed with backing up since it invasively assumes to toggles it on automatically when it asks. If you accidentally do, if you try to delete the photos from cloud backup (after you inevitably get a notice that your storage is nearly full), it will delete them from your device as well??! Making it as inconvenient as possible to free up storage space. You must inconveniently go online and delete from the cloud so that it doesn't delete the photos from your device.

Mr Lex Briones, are Gold Product Expert answers immune to downvotes?
I am talking about the one answer, not further comments. Being off the mark, it should be marked as unhelpful yet no downvote sticks.
Even if that is not your doing personally, it leaves a bad impression of you.
