batch apply filter

I just uploaded 269 photos from my london and los angeles trip. I want to apply alpaca filter to all of them as most of them look great in that filter. seems like I have to apply that filter 269 times individually on each photo. how to batch apply that to all?

I agree that:
  • multiple (selected) photos taken in the same circumstances may get better by applying the same correction
  • since edits are reversible, it may be more efficient to apply the same to multiple photos in batch, and (if needed) re-correct a minority.
This is not the right place to ask for new options though. You may ask for it by sending feedback (main menu in https://photos.google.com) but I do not expect any change any time soon.

There is a way to apply the same edits more rapidly to multiple photos:
  1. Edit one photo
  2. Save the edits to the clipboard with Ctrl+C
  3. Go to another photo
  4. Use Ctrl+V to paste the same edits.
That method is especially interesting when you applied more complex edits or fine tuned using the sliders. You can adjust immediately if needed.

Yes, you will need to do that because then you will understand that this is a bad idea :-)

Photo-editing is about improving with straightening and cropping mainly. And the automatic filter may help to improve lightness and colorbalance. And also that is per image.
I have done 100.000 in my lifetime.

Could it be scripted? Unfortunately the API only allows for browsing/searching and creating items. Having scripts for the media item manipulation, image filterings and mods would open a lot of doors

Google plus had auto enhance, Google Photos still does not allow to batch apply stuff. GPhotos is a sad joke from the beginning and unfortunately still is.

Sad joke?? Ha! Google photos surpasses Amazon and Apple!

i do agree with Rinus to point, photo-editing is about improving and accentuating the characteristics of each image and it's uniqueness.  however, if you ever worked on a photoshoot you know that each shot can have thousands of selects and there can be hundreds of shots for the entire photoshoot.  if you had to address all those images individually i could take a lifetime.  i think googles platform is meant for photo-editing and focusing on one image at a time HOWEVER it would be nice to see a batch edit feature in the mobile editing world.  it's been my number 1 frustration. S. Sawhney i hope the powers to be see this post and have something in the works.

I disagree with Rinus.  Sometimes, I too, want to select a batch of pictures and apply auto-edit because they lack the color pop i'm looking for.  And since the process is reversible, there should be a way to apply edits to a batch of photos, instead of rolling through them individually and applying one at a time, which is annoying as hell.

What about Irfan Vieuw for example? Downolading and butch?

@Denis

Of course you can download, edit (also in batch) in many different tools, and upload again. Irfanview (a great little program) would not be my first choice though. I would prefer a program that allows to fine tune or reverse the edits after the batch editing, like Picasa or Lightroom (and Google Photos).

This is what I do...
  1. Copy photos from my phone to my PC and delete them from the phone.
  2. I have a backup of the old Picasa installer stored on my PC. I use that for all batch editing/auto correction of lighting on my photographs. Nothing beats that.
  3. Picasa also does a auto backup of Pics when editing and saving them.
  4. Once I am done with 2, I copy all those photos back to my phone. And then, I (usually) take up to a  week to edit them with Photoshop Express/Snapseed/etc.
  5. When done, I copy them back to the PC.
  6. Upload to Google Drive (I don't use Google Photos to store my photos, but only for sharing albums temporarily.)
Of course, the above works for me because I don't click too many photos; approx. around 300 pics every six months. But it is extremely time saving, especially step 2.

Obviously Rinus has never taken over 100 photos of document pages and then needed to apply the exact same lighting adjustment to each and every one of them. This is easily done in Adobe Lightroom (and therefore a desired and needed feature). It even has a keyboard shortcut. It is a shame you can't do this directly in Google photos.

I also think this feature would be a great improvement!

Agree on need for feature.  I shoot indoor hockey games and manually adjusting coloring on 200-300 pictures per youth hockey game and shooting 2 to 3 games a week takes a ton of time manually applying the same color adjustments.  A simple way to select multiple photos and apply the same coloring adjustment (or auto) would be extremely helpful!
