- multiple (selected) photos taken in the same circumstances may get better by applying the same correction
- since edits are reversible, it may be more efficient to apply the same to multiple photos in batch, and (if needed) re-correct a minority.
This is not the right place to ask for new options though. You may ask for it by sending feedback (main menu in https://photos.google.com) but I do not expect any change any time soon.
There is a way to apply the same edits more rapidly to multiple photos:
- Edit one photo
- Save the edits to the clipboard with Ctrl+C
- Go to another photo
- Use Ctrl+V to paste the same edits.
That method is especially interesting when you applied more complex edits or fine tuned using the sliders. You can adjust immediately if needed.

Photo-editing is about improving with straightening and cropping mainly. And the automatic filter may help to improve lightness and colorbalance. And also that is per image.
I have done 100.000 in my lifetime.

Of course you can download, edit (also in batch) in many different tools, and upload again. Irfanview (a great little program) would not be my first choice though. I would prefer a program that allows to fine tune or reverse the edits after the batch editing, like Picasa or Lightroom (and Google Photos).

This is what I do...
- Copy photos from my phone to my PC and delete them from the phone.
- I have a backup of the old Picasa installer stored on my PC. I use that for all batch editing/auto correction of lighting on my photographs. Nothing beats that.
- Picasa also does a auto backup of Pics when editing and saving them.
- Once I am done with 2, I copy all those photos back to my phone. And then, I (usually) take up to a week to edit them with Photoshop Express/Snapseed/etc.
- When done, I copy them back to the PC.
- Upload to Google Drive (I don't use Google Photos to store my photos, but only for sharing albums temporarily.)
Of course, the above works for me because I don't click too many photos; approx. around 300 pics every six months. But it is extremely time saving, especially step 2.
