How can I sort images and videos by file size?

I recently discovered that my Google phone was creating fairly massive pictures by including several seconds of video within them, sometimes for no reason whatsoever (it's a stationary scene, but it auto-added video to it, doubling its size). Because file size now impacts the cost of the product, I want a way to manage file size in Google Photos, and culling unnecessarily large files is step 1. So I want to sort by file size. But they don't seem to have a way to search by file size, despite (because?) it being the exact metric used to determine if the service is free or paid in my case. Unless I'm missing something?

At present, Google Photos doesn't have an option to sort on file size.

True, we will need that feature for controlling all uploads beyond the 31st of May 2021, al the uploads till that date will continue to occupy zero space even after the new policy comes into force.

Further, let's await the new storage management tool promised to be available by Jund 2021.

Additionally, if you are owning a Pixel phone, you may have an extra grace period up to 31st Jan 2022. You can check that in the app installed on your phone.

Hello Chris,

Google have been asked to provide more options for users post June for the reasons you quote and the best way to add your voice is by leaving feedback.

Regarding the specific problem with several seconds of video should be easily resolved by changing the Camera setting which it sounds is currently set for Live or Motion photos which have a 3 second video clip with the still photo taken in the centre portion.

There is also a utility at https://one.google.com/storage/management which has visibility of all photos and videos using storage quota. From observation this page will show all media files greater than 5MB along with other items of storage usage.
