Create and edit photo albums

You can create, edit, and add things like maps and text in your photo albums. 

Create a new album

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account. 
  3. On a photo, click Select Select.
  4. Choose other photos that you want in your album. 
  5. At the top, click Add Add.
  6. Select Album and then New album
  7. Optional: Add a title to your new album. 
  8. Click Done Done

Change how your album looks

Change your cover photo

Change the photo that's shown on the front of your album.

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album, then the photo you want to use.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then  Use as album cover.

Change the title of an album

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. Click the title, then type a new title.
  4. Click Done Done.

Change items in your album

Move items around

You can re-order photos, videos, text, and locations by dragging them.

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Edit album.
  4. Drag items to move them.
  5. Click Done Done.

Add, upload, or remove photos and videos

Add photos

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. At the top right, click Add to album Add to album
  4. Select the items you want to add.
  5. At the top right, click Done.

Upload photos

Open photos.google.com, and click Upload.

If your photo or video didn't upload, it may not be the right file size or type. Check why your photo or video didn’t upload.

Remove photos

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Edit album.
  4. On items you want to remove, click Remove Remove. Photos and videos you remove from albums will still be in your Google Photos library unless you delete them from the main “Photos” section.
  5. Click Done Done.

Add maps and locations

Add locations

You can add locations and maps to albums you create. If you share the album, these will be included.

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Edit album.
  4. Click Location .
  5. Decide if you want:
    • Location: The name of one location.
    • Map: A map showing where you traveled.
    • All suggested locations: Locations and maps suggested by Google Photos.
  6. Click Done Done.
  7. To move a location within the album, click More More and then Edit album and then drag it to the photo it belongs and then click Done Done.

Remove locations

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Edit album.
  4. On items you want to remove, click Remove Remove.
  5. Click Done Done.

Add or change text

Add text

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Edit album.
  4. Click Text .
  5. Add text.
  6. At top left, click Done Done.
  7. To move a text box, click More More and then Edit album and then drag the box to another place and then click Done Done.

Change or delete text

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Edit album.
    • Edit text: Click the text, then change it.
    • Delete text: Click Remove Remove.
  4. Click Done Done

Delete an album

  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com.
  2. Open the album.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Delete album. Photos and videos in the album will still be in your Google Photos library unless you delete them from the main “Photos” section.

What you can do if you didn't create the album

  • Only the person who created the album will be able to make these changes to it.
  • If you're a collaborator on an album but didn't create it, you can only add photos and videos.
