You have the option to share your photos and videos from Google Photos with other apps on Android and iOS using the photo picker. This feature allows you to select backed-up images and videos without granting the third-party app access to your entire Google Photos library. Learn more about using the photo picker.
Manage access to Google Photos in the photo picker
Important: To use this feature, you must have Android 13 and later.
You can enable photos and videos you back up from Google Photos to be displayed in the Android photo picker. This lets you pick those photos and videos from other apps.
- On your Android device, open the Google Photos app
.
- At the top, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
- Tap Photos Settings

- Tap photo picker.
- Select Allow or Don’t allow.
Apps & devices Tip: If you’re logged into multiple Google Accounts in Photos, you can choose which account the photo picker will have access to.
If your backed-up photos still aren’t there
If your backed up photos don't appear in the photo picker after you follow the steps above, you can manually select "Google Photos" in your device settings:
- Open your device’s Settings app.
- Tap Apps.
- Under “General,” tap Cloud media settings.
- Select Google Photos.
- Tap Photos Settings
