You can make and edit collages with photos in your library on the Google Photos app or on the web. To edit your collages on your mobile device, use the Google Photos app. Some features aren't available on the web.
Eligibility
Some features may not be available on all devices. To access the new collage editor updates:
- The version of your device must be iOS 18 or newer.
- The Google Photos app version must be 7.64 or newer.
Step 1: Start your collage
There are multiple ways to start a collage.

Through photos:
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app

- Select up to six photos.
- At the bottom, tap Create

Through a design or template:
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app

- At the bottom, tap Create

- Tap Create

- Scroll to the 'Collages' section.
- Select a template.
- Tap Create

- To start your creation, you can either:
- Tap an empty slot in the collage to select the photos that you want to use.
- At the bottom, select a different template.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app

- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app

- At the top right, tap Create

- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app

- From your Photos library, tap a photo.
- At the top, tap the overflow menu

Step 2: Choose a design template and layout
- Select a collage design template.
- Customise your template.
- To dynamically add or remove photo slots: Within the editor, tap Add
or Remove
.
- The layout will adjust automatically.
- When a layout can't accommodate more or fewer photos, the Add
and Remove
icons will no longer work. If you still tap them, it will only show a message:
- 'Can't add photo spaces to this template.'
- 'Can't remove photo spaces from this template.'
- To fill an empty photo slot:
- Tap the empty photo slot.
- Select the media that you want to add from your library.
- Tap Done.
- To dynamically add or remove photo slots: Within the editor, tap Add
Tip: When you're offline, you can only access on-device layouts in Google Photos.
- To access the full range of designs, make sure that you have an active Internet connection.
Step 3: Edit your photos
Before you save your collage, you can:
- Replace a photo:
- Tap the photo that you want to replace
Replace.
- Select a new photo.
- Tap the photo that you want to replace
- Edit a photo: Tap the photo that you want to edit
Edit.
- Rotate a photo:
- Use two fingers on the photo to rotate it within the slot.
- Turn until the photo reaches the position that you want it in.
- Zoom in or out of a photo frame: Pinch closed to zoom out or pinch open to zoom in.
- Change the order of the photos: Touch and hold, then drag the photo to the position where you want it.
Step 4: Review, save and share your photos
After you choose a collage layout and make any edits to your photos, you can:
- Review your collage:
- Adjust photo placement:
- Zoom in or out of a photo frame: Pinch closed to zoom out or pinch open to zoom in.
- Reposition a photo within the frame: Drag directly in the photo.
- Fill empty slots: To add photos to empty frames, in the frame, tap Add
.
- Change the layout: To preview your photos in different grids, at the bottom, swipe through the templates.
- Adjust photo placement:
- Save your collage: Tap Save.
- Share your collage: Tap Share

Step 5: Find your collages
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app

- At the bottom, tap Search.
- Tap the search bar.
- Enter 'Collages'.
- Tap Collages.
