If your organisation's G Suite account wasn't able to be upgraded to the Google for Nonprofits version, you might need to fix one of these issues before you try again.
You don't have a G Suite account.
Your G Suite account is not verified.
To activate G Suite for Nonprofits, you need to have an existing G Suite Basic account. If you don't have a G Suite account yet, you can sign up for one here
Once you've signed up for the account and verified that you have a domain, sign in to Google for Nonprofits and activate G Suite using your new G Suite domain.
The relationship between your organisation and your G Suite domain is unclear.
G Suite domains must be verified before they can be upgraded to the Nonprofit edition. You can check if your domain is verified by signing into your G Suite account at google.com/a/your-domain.org
with your actual G Suite domain name). You will be prompted to verify domain ownership if your account is not yet verified.
If your account is not verified, please log in to your G Suite admin console and verify domain ownership using one of the methods outlined here
Once you've verified your domain, sign in to Google for Nonprofits and submit your domain for activation.
Activation might not work if the relationship between your organisation and the domain you want to upgrade is unclear.
If so, you'll receive an email with instructions.
Your G Suite account is suspended.
You requested an upgrade for an alias or secondary domain, rather than a primary domain.
You can tell if your G Suite account is suspended by signing in to your G Suite account at google.com/a/your-domain.org
with your actual G Suite domain name). If your domain is suspended for a billing issue, please refer to the Lifting a suspension
article for information on how to resolve the suspension.
Your G Suite account is on the wrong edition.
If the domain for which you requested an upgrade is an alias
or secondary domain
on a G Suite account that you manage, you can either:
- Try activating G Suite for Nonprofits again using the primary domain
- Remove the alias or secondary domain and sign up for a separate G Suite account using this domain.
If you don't have access to the G Suite account for which your domain is an alias or secondary domain, please contact G Suite support
Your G Suite account must be on the G Suite Basic edition before it can be upgraded. You can check your domain edition by signing in to your G Suite account at google.com/a/your-domain.org
with your actual G Suite domain name).
If your domain is not on G Suite Basic, please log in to your Google Admin console and click on the link to 'Get G Suite Basic'. You may have to enter billing information temporarily. Billing will be cancelled as soon as your G Suite account is upgraded. If you experience any difficulty changing your domain edition, please contact G Suite support
Your domain belongs to a reseller
We aren't able to upgrade G Suite accounts to the nonprofits version if the domain for your G Suite account is owned by a reseller. Google for Nonprofits can only upgrade you to G Suite for Nonprofits if the relationship is directly with Google.
Once you've fixed any problems, here's how to re-activate a product.
How to re-activate a product
- Sign in to Google for Nonprofits using your Google for Nonprofits administrator account.
Locate your organisation and click Activate products.
- Click Resubmit beneath the appropriate product.
- Fill in the information needed and click Activate.
