How do I market with Google Play?

Can you feature my title on the home page?

All our collections are algorithmically generated, dynamically updated and personalised to each user based on several factors, and we rarely merchandise manually so we cannot feature particular titles on the home page.

Marketing your title

Although in-store merchandising will market your title successfully, you can boost title awareness and sales with the strategies outlined below:
  • Include the release date, name of the movie (including a hashtag so that so more people discover your post), and a call to action: e.g. Buy / rent on Google TV.

  • If you’re offering a deal, mention the promotional price and its window.

  • You can use a URL shortener like https://bitly.com/ to keep character counts low.

  • Download badges for Google TV here and include a badge in your post.
  • Include a video trailer or scene snippets.

  • Download Google TV badges in the Partner Marketing Hub

Where can I get Google TV logos/badges to use in marketing?

Use the Google TV badge in your email, digital ads, apps, on your websites, and whenever else you promote your titles. Download them here.
The Google Play Badge Page is now no longer as relevant as Google Play is limited to desktop. Google TV is the newest experience on Android mobile devices & smart TVs.

How do I get a strike-through price for a title?

When the price at which content is offered is lowered, the storefront will show that lower price along with the struck-through previous (higher) price that was in place in the 30 day period prior to the price being lowered.

Prices can be lowered by content owners in two ways:

  1. the content owner submits a new avail offering the content at a lower price (outlined in this article); or
  2. the content owner runs a temporary promotion offering the content at a lower price (outlined in this article).

Restrictions

  1. Strike-through pricing explicitly driven by overlapping avail windows is not currently supported.
  2. Strike-through pricing based on price history is not supported in Japan.
Google adjusts retail prices at its discretion, which may also cause a strike-through price to appear on storefront offers.

How do I get approval on my media campaigns?

Please contact the Partner Marketing Hub if you need permission to use our brands in your marketing collateral. On the contact form, make sure to select I'm submitting assets for brand review and approval so your request is directed to the right team.
If you'd like to include YouTube in your campaign, please submit a YouTube Brand Request as well. On their contact form, select the appropriate YouTube product and YouTube brand name so your request is directed to the right team.

How do I create an effective details page?

Submitting complete and comprehensive metadata when you avail your titles gives our system more information to feature and promote them when they’re live. We have a list of what’s required (see below two links) but in general it's: the more metadata, the better.

Also, make sure your artwork is meeting our Movie artwork and TV artwork specifications.

Can I send Google our newsletter of upcoming titles?

As all collections are now created automatically, there is no need to send us any promo material/slate reviews. We do not promote content manually and therefore don't have to be made aware of upcoming titles.

Suggesting changes to Google ‘Knowledge Panel’ results in Google search

Knowledge panels are automatically generated from the Google Knowledge Graph with information that comes from various sources. Entities (people, places or things that are subjects of knowledge panels) can also contribute, after they have been verified

If you are an authorized representative for an entity, you can suggest changes to the knowledge panel by following these steps.

How do I make a bundle available on your TVOD platform?

Bundles are no longer supported for Movies or TV.
Movie Bundles were previously only supported for a very small number of partners in certain markets. Please reach out to our support team if you have any questions.

How can I update my contract?

I would like to discuss new commercial terms for my existing Google Play/YouTube agreement. How do I start that conversation?

Please reach out to your Partnerships contact to inquire on next steps, if you don’t know who your Partnerships contact is, please contact Play Support (playsupport-moviestv@google.com)
