About HoldbackLanguage

Use this column to specify languages to be excluded from distribution for the line item. This column should not be populated if AllowedLanguage is present.

IMPORTANT:

Use HoldbackLanguage when there are languages with a different release window. Use AllowedLanguage to avail the complete language sets and instructions all at once.

Using HoldbackLanguage

If HoldbackLanguage is populated with specific languages,  ALL OTHER languages NOT listed will be published to the store. Be sure to include all languages used in audio - including original and dubbed audio - and subtitles.

Languages cannot be added to HoldbackLanguage after the title has gone in window. HoldbackLanguage does not apply to movie trailers or bundles.

Formatting HoldbackLanguage

Multiple instances can be included, separated by commas.  To explicitly state all languages, use an asterisk (*). Specific assets can be specified for a given language by adding one of the following suffixes: ""sub"" for subtitle only, ""dub"" for dub only, and ""subdub"" for both subs and dubs.

Examples of accepted values:

  • Single Language:   EN
  • Multiple Languages:    EN, ES, FR
  • Specific languages and localization types:    en, fr-ca:subdub, es-419:dub
  • Any:    *

Language codes must follow RFC 5646, Tags for identifying languages. Reference: Internet Assigned Numbers Author (IANA).
