Google Customer Reviews guidelines

This article provides details about where Google Customer Reviews is available, eligibility guidelines and programme policies.

Google Customer Reviews is available in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States and the United Kingdom.

Basic eligibility requirements

To use Google Customer Reviews, your checkout flow must include a separate order confirmation page and meet the following technical requirements:

  • Your platform must allow you to add JavaScript code to all of your site's web pages.
  • During checkout, some e-commerce platforms redirect customers away from the shop's domain and to their own third-party domain (e.g. Shopify or CoreCommerce). If you use such a platform, you must redirect customers back to an order confirmation page on your shop's domain after they've completed the checkout process.
  • Your site's order confirmation page must be encrypted (i.e. only accessed using HTTPS).

Note: To participate in Google Customer Reviews, consent to the programme agreement for your country. You can review the programme agreement when you sign up.

Additional requirements for collecting product reviews

Collecting product reviews via Google Customer Reviews is an optional feature. To collect product reviews and participate in the Product Ratings programme via Google Customer Reviews, you must meet these additional technical requirements:

  • You must add a few lines of JavaScript code to your site’s order confirmation page to provide Google with GTIN data from customers who opt in to receiving the Google Customer Reviews survey.
  • You must provide Google with valid GTINs for all orders in which GTIN data is available.

Google Customer Reviews policies provide guidance for programme participants that help protect users and maintain the integrity of your brand and Google's brand. To ensure that you understand the programme expectations, review the Google Customer Reviews policies
