About on display in store

With the on display in store feature, you can show products that are displayed in your physical shop but aren't available for immediate purchase. For example, large furniture:

  • Customers that are looking for similar products on Google will find these ads with the 'Displayed in store' annotation in their search results.
  • Customers that are browsing the shop on Google's search result page will find these products marked as 'Available to order'.

They can click on your local inventory ad or cost-free local listing to view the item. To buy the item, they can visit your physical shop, view the item and then order it to be delivered to them or delivered to your shop for collection.

Website requirements

For items to be eligible for on display in store, they must meet the following requirements:

  • Must provide approximate delivery times for on display in-store items: The landing page must have an approximate delivery time after the order is placed for an item in the physical shop.
  • Contains delivery cost and policy information: The URL that you provide for your in-store page must provide full delivery details for the on display in store product, such as cost and policy.
  • If using the product page with in-store availability feature: The local availability displayed after interaction with the shop selector must show that the item is 'on display in store' at that shop without further customer interaction. If a different variant of the item is on display to order, it must state 'Variant on display in store'.
  • If using the store-specific product page with in-store availability and price feature: The 'on display in store' availability must be displayed on the landing page. If a different variant of the item is on display in store, it must state 'Variant on display in store'.

Inventory data requirements

Add the availability [availability] attribute to your local product inventory data and use 'on_display_to_order' as the value.

You may add other attributes such as available colour, size and fabric variants for the items on display in your primary data source. If displaying variants of an item, ensure that all of the specified variants are available for the customer to view in your shop (for example, size, colour and fabric).

If you have 'on display in store' products in your local product inventory data, you can't request inventory verification until your on display in store URL is Verified.

IMPORTANT

  • Prerequisites: Before you can enable 'On display in store', you must fully complete onboarding for local inventory ads (LIA) or cost-free local listings (FLL) and have active, approved local product inventory serving on Google.
  • Adding a delivery policy URL (step 7) without active LIA/FLL serving status will not enable this feature and will delay your verification.

If you have already onboarded into local inventory ads or cost-free local listings, follow the steps below to enable on display in store:

  1. In your Merchant Center account, select Settings Tools and settings menu icon [Gear] in the left navigation menu. Then, select Add-ons.
  2. Select 'Your add-ons'.
  3. On the 'Cost-free local listings' or 'Local inventory ads' card, select Go to local inventory ads or Go to cost-free local listings.
  4. Select Review setup status next to the country that you want to set up on display in store.
  5. Scroll down to 'Your collection experience (optional)'.
  6. Under 'Products on display in store (optional)', tick the box.
