After upgrading my macOS to Big Sur 11.1, suddenly I can't hear or see anyone on google meet.
They can't hear or see me, but they can hear and see each other. I've tried joining on my android phone, and it works fine.
I tried both Chrome and Safari and the problem is the same on both browsers.
Can someone help?
Thanks

Ok the VPN trick solved it for me.
My macbook doesn't have usb-c ports, but at least I can jump on to calls if I turn on the VPN.
Hope they have a more permanent fix in the future

<EDIT: Skip this answer, I misread the question>
Hi Carlos, welcome to the Google Meet support community. This sounds like it may be an issue with permissions. Have you looked at the Google Meet Troubleshooting Guide? https://support.google.com/meet/answer/7380413 it gives this advice about Camera issues>
Make sure that your camera is turned on and your computer and browser are able to access the camera so you are visible.
Enable camera access on macOS Mojave and later
On computers using macOS Mojave version 10.14 or later, you must allow camera access for your Chrome or Firefox® web browser. Otherwise, Meet won’t include video from your device.
- Go to System Preferences
Security and Privacy.
- Select Privacy
Camera.
- Check the box for the application used for Meet (Google Chrome or Firefox).
Allow Google Chrome to access your camera
On computers using Chrome, you must allow the browser to access your camera.
- Enter
chrome://settings/content/camera
in the Chrome address bar. - Disable the setting 'Ask before accessing'.
- Under 'Allow', delete https://meet.google.com:443 if present.
- Refresh the Google Meet page and grant camera access when prompted.
More options:
- Check that your computer’s camera is connected, turned on and pointing towards you unobstructed.
- Check if your camera functions in other apps, like FaceTime in MacOS or the Camera app in Windows 10.
- Close any other application that might be using the camera, then reload Google Meet.
- Restart your computer or your Google Chrome browser.
And, for microphone issues:
- Go to System Preferences
click Sound
Input.
- Make sure that the microphone is turned on.
- Raise the volume with the volume slider.
The volume setting will save automatically.

The camera and mic work well on my end. I can see the cam and hear the mic while testing the setup before joining the call.
Unfortunately those steps you mentioned won't solve the issue (I've checked all settings mentioned anyway)
Please help

Ok, I may have slightly misunderstood the issue here. You mean that everything seems fine on your end, but others in the Meet can neither see you, nor hear you, even when your camera and mic show active on your side?
Is this a large Meet? As only a limited number of people may be visibly shown in the tiled view. Some guests of a Meet may not see as many video feeds as others, as a large Meet may require greater bandwidth, and/or more processing power than is available. Also, your microphone may be automatically muted when you join a group meet, and you will need to use the microphone icon to unmute.

I am having the same issue and I am connected through a LAN line. Is there anyway to have this fixed. I just updated my computer and it will not allow my students to see me, hear me, or see what I am presenting. I cannot use wiFi at the school forever since too many people are on it at the same time. Is there any way to get this fixed? I have checked all the suggested settings and this did not solve the problem.
