Use Family Mode in 1:1 and group calls

Family Mode provides a better 1:1 calling experience when young children are participating. Family Mode hides in-call controls to prevent children from accidentally hanging up or muting the call. This feature isn't available in meetings.

To draw or apply effects with Family Mode, you need iOS 11 and up.

Turn on Family Mode

  1. Start or receive a Google Meet  video call.
  2. In the call, at the bottom, tap Show more options .
Tip: You must be in a live call with video on to find the options.
  3. Tap Family.
    • To use effects to do things like replace your face with a picture of a flower, tap Effects.
    • To draw pictures, tap Doodle.
    • To access in-call controls, like mute and hang up, in the upper left corner, tap Back duo back arrow.
