You can use the buttons or call controls on your USB devices, such as headsets or microphones, to mute and unmute yourself in Google Meet.
Before you begin
For best results:
- Use a Meet-certified headset or microphone.
- Call controls work with most USB devices.
- Devices that aren't Meet-certified might not work as expected.
- Bluetooth devices aren't currently supported.
Tip: This feature is currently only supported on Chrome and Chromium-based browsers, like Microsoft Edge.
Turn on call control for your USB device
You can turn on call controls before or during a meeting. To turn on call controls while in a meeting:
- Click More Settings .
- In the Audio section, click Call control.
- Click + Connect device.
- A pop-up asks you to connect a device to Meet. Select your USB device. Click Connect.
- When a pop-up opens in your browser's URL bar, select the device to turn on and click Connect.
Use call control for your USB device
While in a meeting, you can press the mute or unmute button on your device. If your device has an LED status light, the light syncs with your current mute status.
Remove permissions for a USB device
- While in a meeting or on meet.google.com, hover over the URL bar within your browser and click View site information .
- At the bottom of this pop-up, there's a list of the devices that are granted permissions for use on Meet. Next to the device that you want to remove, click Delete .
