Google TImeline backup

Question

Hey All
I have moved timeline to my device (Android phone), however I want to make my Google Drive (I have enough space) the actual backup instead of my phone. My worry is that if I switch/sell/replace my phone this data is too easily available to be accessed by anyone.
How do I go about setting Google Drive as my primary backup for timeline across all my devices?

My timeline is 3MB in total. Seems really odd that I can't choose to store in Google's servers. I'd happily use the storage I pay monthly through Google One for it. It's literally less space taken than an email attachment, or a high res photo. Lots of user anxiety introduced with this change now that users will lose data when they lose their device. Was it worth it?

We should have the option to back up to drive.

Hi Antony,
I think I know where the confusion is - the backup option isn't here (cloud icon) after choosing to move the Timeline to the device.
It might only appear after everything has been sorted in the background.

Yes, the icon will only appear once the migration process is complete. I think it took a few days or so for it to show up on my app.
