Bug: display not centered

Until this morning, it was all working fine; years I am using this split view between Maps and Wave. And since tonight, not centered anymore. Reboot did not help.

After triple checking ... Waze was also updated this WE, and is also affected by this issue. As said, I update every sunday. And both apps are affected. So, check what you changed in both source trees between versions published sat august 31st and sunday sept 8th, and you got a very narrow idea of where the bug is.

Both were working fine last week.

Yesterday morning, I had not used split view, that's why I had the issue only yesterday night.

Check my screenshots (link above). I have played with orientation and split ratio; bug varies with the width/height of the split share.

The bug is not directly related with the split view; the bug is related to the width-heigh ratio. For some ratios, it works fine, for other values it bugs. Also note that when my screen is split at 50%, Waze and Maps don't center at the same place; Maps is very much on the right, while Waze is slightly on the right ... so even when I split at 50% and both apps have exactly the same resolution available, they behave differently.

This means, people with different phones may have variations of this bug depending on exact pixel count of their screens, and height of bottom and top system bars (and also probably if they have edges like Samsung does on galaxy S6) or foldable items.

Here is my full point of view.

Ivan confirmed he did all the tests recommended by Parayil, so, this report reaches an end for me. I will keep visiting this page, but I stop now debugging this, tests, and other kind of digging.

This is unbearable.  I've already missed turns or felt unsafe recentering the map as I am driving.  In split screen the indicator for me/direction of movement is underneath icons.

Please fix this ASAP.  Also shrink down the giant green area with upcoming turns, it blocks seeing what's coming up.  In cities you can't go just by miles, sometimes you need to count streets.

Anyone got suggestions for a better map app?

Hi, another one here. On my phone everything works fine when it's full screen, the map is centred around my location, it all looks good. When I move into split screen mode, the 'centre' drifts right until it's underneath the sound option button. If I close split screen, it moves back to the centre. I've attached a 'before', 'during' and 'after' screenshot showing what happens. All I've done here is long press on the square button to move into split screen mode.

Here to report the same problem. Google Maps navigation is not centered when using split view on Galaxy S10
