Find & save parking locations

Before you start driving, you can look up places to park your car. After you reach your destination, you can save your parking location so that you can find it later.

Notes:

  • You can only find parking near your destination in some U.S. cities..
  • You can't look up places to park on iPhone or iPad.

Set your parking location

Step 1: Set location services to "Always"

Maps will save your parking information only if you have location services set to "Always." Learn how to set your location settings.

Step 2: Note your physical activity

When you let Google Maps take note of your activity, Maps will automatically remember when you park your car (even if you park far from your destination).

  1. After you’re done navigating somewhere, at the bottom, turn on “Know where you parked.” 
  2. Allow Google Maps to access your Motion and Fitness Activity.
  3. When you stop moving, you’ll see your parking location labeled You parked near here.

(Optional) Step 3: Connect your device to your car

For the most accurate results, link your device to your car.

Use Bluetooth

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone or tablet.
  2. Pair your phone or tablet to your car.
  3. Set the source for your car's audio system to Bluetooth.

Use USB

Plug your device into your car.

Step 4: Save where you parked

  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Navigate to a place. Learn how to navigate using Google Maps.
  3. Park and turn off your car.
  4. You’ll see your location on the map labeled You parked near here. Your parking location will be saved in Google Maps for 24 hours or until you remove it.
    • If you don’t see this, search for the place where you parked and thenat the bottom, tap on the place name and then More More and then Set as parking location.

Change your parking location

  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, from the card Saved parking, choose an option:
    • Move parking location: Tap Change location.
    • Delete parking location: Tap Clear.

Find where you parked

  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Tap where you parked on the map.
  3. For directions, on the right, tap the blue circle. It'll show a car, bus, bike, a person waving, or a person walking.

Tip: To share your parking info, in the parking card, tap Show on map and then Saved parking and then Share Share.

Turn off parking info & notifications

You can get notifications that say where you parked and how long you’ve been there.

Turn off parking notifications

  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. In the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Tap Settings and then Notifications.
  4. Scroll to "Saved parking locations" and turn it off.

Stop saving parking

  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. In the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Tap Navigation settings.
  4. Scroll to "Save parking location" and turn it off.
