On Google Maps, you can write reviews for places you visit. You can also leave info or post photo or video updates about a place, like if it’s quiet and romantic or if it’s under renovation.
About public info
All reviews are public and anyone can find what you add. You’re unable to add an anonymous review.
Here's some more info others can find when you write a review:
- The name on your About me page.
- Other photos and videos you added to Google Maps, and the location info that's attached.
- Reviews you wrote on Google Maps.

Add a rating or review
To help you share an experience, or help others choose or make a better decision, you can add ratings or reviews.
Before you add a rating or review, make sure to follow the content policy. Reviews and ratings may be removed from the page, and in most cases, they are removed for policy violations like spam or inappropriate content.
We don't reinstate reviews that were removed for policy violations. These removal measures help make sure that reviews on Google properties are relevant, helpful, and trustworthy. Learn about prohibited and restricted content for reviews.To add a rating or review:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app
.
- Search for a place or tap it on the map.
- If you get multiple locations in your search, tap the location you want to update.
- At the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
- At the top, tap Reviews.
- Tap the 5 empty stars.
- Create your review:
- To score the place: Tap the stars.
- To write a review: Under “Share more about your experience,” enter what you want to say.
- To add details about your experience: Under the questions that show up, choose the details that best fit your experience. You may not get questions for every place you review.
Your review, score, and details about a place show up in Google Maps and on your profile until you take them down. After your review is published, you can edit it or change the rating and pictures you included. Learn how to post a photo update instead.
Find & share your reviews
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app

- Tap Contribute
.
- To find places you’ve reviewed, tap View your profile.
- To find places you can review, tap Write review.
- To share a review, go to the bottom of the review and tap Share
.
Edit or delete your review
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app
.
- Tap Contribute
View your profile.
- Scroll and tap See all reviews.
- Next to the review you want to edit or delete, tap More
.
- Select Edit review or Delete review and follow the on-screen steps.
Read & respond to other people’s reviews
Read other people's reviews
The reviews and ratings you see in Google Maps were added by other users.
Tip: The date on a review is the date it was published.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app
.
- Search for a place or tap it on the map.
- At the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
- At the top, tap Reviews.
To read reviews in another language:
- On your Google Account, go to your languages settings.
- On the right, tap Edit
and select a language.
- Reload Google Maps and check the review again.
Tip: To find high-quality reviews, look for Local Guide . This icon means the review is from a Local Guide.
Mark a review as helpful or unhelpful
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app
.
- Search for a place or tap it on the map.
- At the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
- At the top, tap Reviews.
- Choose from the following:
- To mark a review helpful, tap Helpful
. The author is notified but your name and info aren’t shown. The total number of helpful votes is shown.
- To mark a review unhelpful, tap Unhelpful
. The author isn’t notified, and the total number of unhelpful votes isn’t displayed.
- To mark a review helpful, tap Helpful
Tips:
- To remove your vote, tap the icon again.
- If the review is illegal or violates Google policy, you can report a review.
- Google shows reviews marked helpful to more people, and reviews marked unhelpful to fewer people.
Report a review
You can't contact someone who left an inappropriate review, but you can request that Google remove it.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app
.
- Find the review that violates Google's review policies.
- Next to the review, tap More
Report review.
- Select the reason you want to report the review.
- If you select Not helpful, the review isn’t reported. Google will show this review to fewer people.
Tip: We can take down reviews that are flagged as inaccurate or don't comply with Google’s review policies. We also take down reviews to comply with a legal obligation.
