Use Street View in Google Maps

You can explore world landmarks and natural wonders, and experience places like museums, arenas, restaurants, and small businesses with Street View in both Google Maps and Google Earth.

Get to Street View in Google Maps

To get Street View photos, you can search for a place, drop a pin, tap on a place marker, or use the Street View layer.

Search for a place or drop a pin

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Search for a place or drop a pin on the map.
    • To drop a pin, touch and hold a place on the map.
  3. Tap the thumbnail with a Street View icon 360 photo.
  4. When you're done, at the top left, tap Back Back.

  2. Tap on a place marker.
  3. At the bottom, tap the place name or address.
  4. Tap the thumbnail with a Street View icon 360 photo.
  5. When you're done, at the top left, tap Back Back.
Use Street View layer
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. At the top, tap Layers Layers and then Street View.
  3. To enter Street View, tap on any blue line.
    • Blue lines on the map indicate Street View coverage.

Find street-level imagery from other dates

Important: Historic imagery isn't available for every place that has Street View.

You can find street-level imagery taken at different times from the Street View archives and other contributors. For example, you can explore how your neighborhood has changed over time.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Tap Layers Layers and then Street View and then Close Close.
  3. Tap on any blue line and then See more dates.
    • Not all locations on Google Maps have this link.
  4. At the bottom, scroll and select an image in the carousel.
  5. When you’re done, at the top left, tap Close Close.

Share Street View image in Google Maps

To share a Street View image, tap Share Share.

Explore Street View in Google Maps

  • To explore in Street View: Drag your finger on the screen or tap the compass.
  • To move: Tap the arrows or double-tap the image in the direction you want to go.
  • For a wider view and change to landscape mode: Turn your device sideways.
  • To zoom in: Pinch open on the screen.
  • To zoom out: Pinch closed on the screen.

Explore split-screen Street View

You can switch from a full-screen Street View image to a split-screen view that also displays a small map.

  • To switch, on the Street View image, at the bottom right, tap Split-screen arrows .
    • To zoom in a map: Pinch open on the screen.
    • To zoom out: Pinch closed on the screen.
    • If you select any named point of interest on the smaller map: The map recenters immediately and new imagery loads for the best view of that place.
    • If you tap any blue line on the smaller map: The map recenters immediately.

Preview directions in Street View in Google Maps

Important: To get directions in Street View, first enter a destination and tap Directions Directions.
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, to find detailed directions, pull up the bottom window.
  2. If a preview is available for a step, a photo shows.
  3. To get to Street View for the step you want, tap the photo.
    • To get to the next step in the route: At the bottom, pull left.
    • To get to the previous step: At the bottom, pull right.
    • To exit Street View: At the top left, tap Back Back.

Report a Street View issue in Google Maps

To report an image that should be censored or can be found offensive:
  1. Locate the image.
  2. Tap More More and then Report a problem.
  3. Select the issue and tap Submit.

Report outdated Satellite or Street View imagery

To report outdated imagery, fill out the request information on this form. Your feedback guides us to determine where imagery updates are most important. Keep in mind that Google can't commit to a specific timeline for updates.
