Pattern [pattern]

Use the pattern [pattern] attribute to describe the pattern or graphic print on your product. For example, a T-shirt might have a logo of a sports team, and so you might submit bears or tigers. This information helps create accurate filters, which customers can use to narrow search results. If your product has variants that vary by pattern, then provide that information through this attribute.

Guidelines

Follow these guidelines to make sure you submit high-quality data for your products.

Minimum requirements

These are the requirements you'll need to meet to show your product on Google. If you don't follow these requirements, we'll disapprove your product and let you know in the Diagnostics page of your Manufacturer Center account.

  • Include the pattern or graphic on your product. Don’t include values that belong in other attributes such as color, size, or material.
  • Submit the pattern attribute for all products that vary by pattern. Use this attribute when your product is a variant that’s distinguished by its pattern (for example, polka dots and stripes), and also submit each variant with the same value for the item group ID [item_group_id] attribute.

Best practices

These best practices can help you go beyond the basic requirements to optimize your product data for performance.

  • Use a value customers will be able to understand. The value you submit can be shown to users, so avoid abbreviations or internal terms. For example, don’t submit "plka" if you mean polka dots, and don’t submit "strpd" if you’re referring to a striped shirt.
  • Don’t use values that don’t mention the pattern. This attribute is optional, so if it isn't relevant for your product, then don’t use it. For example, don’t submit values like "n/a", "none", "multi", or "other".
  • If the pattern is an important feature of your product, then submit this attribute. For example, a dress might come in polka dot, striped, and paisley. We especially recommend that you submit the pattern attribute if customers might search for your product by pattern or if they might decide to buy your product based on the pattern.
