To make sure you submit high-quality data for your products, follow this requirement and these best practices.

Minimum requirement

These are the requirements you'll need to meet to upload data for your products. If you don't follow these requirements, we'll disapprove this attribute and let you know in the Diagnostics page of your Manufacturer Center account.

  • Separate multiple product types, with a comma ( , ). When submitting multiple product types with commas, be sure to put double quotes around the entire product type value. Examples:
    • ““Books > Non-Fiction > Sports,Books > Non-Fiction > Business””
    • ““Books > Non-Fiction > Sports,Books > Non-Fiction > Business””

Best practices

To optimize your product data's performance, follow these best practices:

  • Use > to separate multiple levels in a category. Also, include a space before and after the > symbol. For example: Home > Women > Dresses > Maxi Dresses.
  • Submit product type [product_type] to help us understand how your products fit together. When you submit a product type [product_type], we can better understand your products, and when we understand your products, we can help connect users with your products.
  • If your own product categorization includes multiple levels, include all the levels. For example, if your products belong in Maxi Dresses, list the full string: Home > Women > Dresses > Maxi Dresses
  • Use the full “breadcrumb” information. Wherever possible, we recommend you include more granular categories as it classifies your product more precisely. For example, Books > Non-Fiction > Sports > Baseball is better than Baseball.
