In Gmail, the "empty trash" option is gone. What do I do?

In the Gmail app on an Android the "empty trash" option in spam and trash, is gone now. In spam, I can click each individual message to delete, but in trash I do not see an option to delete. Before, in spam mail or what I moved to trash, at the top in blue there was an option "empty trash" what happen? Thanks

I had this problem also, managed to find fix. When on bin or spam folder.
Rotate your phone to landscape and the empty bin/empty trash option appears.
Hope this helps

Try putting you phone into landscape and seeing if it shows up - there had been this issue a few weeks back - this had been one of the temporary fixes

It appears the capability to empty trash/bin has been restored.

Turn phone to landscape mode and it shows up. It's not the end of the world. It still works you just got to spin your phone a little bit.

This worked for me. The missing empty trash now can be restored by selecting a trash email in the trash folder and then back out of the selected email and the empty trash now will reappear. Same applies for the spam folder.

Open and close a spam/bin mail item, the Empty Bin/Spam will reappear.

Have same problems with "empty" issue. Really tired of them messing up!

The problem is only on my Android Samsung tablet and NOT on my Android Nokia 7 phone.

After Android 10 update Gmail 'empty bin' only appear in dark mode sometimes. Have to toggle between light and dark modes. Can only empty bin on tablet and desktop
