Someone is using my Gmail account to register on various websites

After my Marriott account been hacked, my Gmail account kept receiving registering confirmation email from various website, and Gmail takes most of them as important email. Now my important folder is full of these unwanted confirmation emails. Is there any method to stop this kind of attack?

(I knew it is related to my Marriott account hack because I only use XXXX.XXXX@gmail in Marriott website, and all those emails were sent to the address with the dot.)

you cant stop it , it will stop on its own

its called a DoS attack to try hide the fraud

note that filters do see dots so all you need is one filter to delete all mail sent TO that address >>  https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6579?hl=en

If you are getting "spam bombed", check any accounts such as PayPal, Amazon, eBay etc. where you may have money. Read Spam attack on your Gmail account

Spam bombers do this in the hope that you will miss emails from these types of accounts informing you of a withdrawal/theft of funds.  Check all emails for strange purchases which you haven't made.
However, if that is not applicable, a lot of sites never verify an email address (poor security).  Thankfully, many do verify.

Google never duplicate email addresses;  even those including/excluding a "dot" combination. So that address is actually yours, which someone has given out, either in error (careless) or deliberately.

This is similar to receiving wrongly addressed snail mail; dialling wrong number, knocking on the wrong door, etc.

Nothing much you can do, except inform the mail sender (if you wish, no compulsion), and mark as Spam.  Just be careful, if they are actual Spam, do NOT reply or unsubscribe - the spammers then know that they have a "live" one and you are on the hook.  And they will on-sell your address, result -   more and more spam.

You can also filter these to be deleted on receipt;  you can block senders as well.
These people would not have access to your account unless they have hacked you;  make sure that your account is secure.  They would not be receiving your email.

Friendly reminder. Account security and password protection is your responsibility; Google can't do this for you.  Google provide secure systems at their end;  you must do the same at your end!
