Why does my display name keep changing on its own??
My display name is back to Lauren Smith, which is the name that it was changed to last week (not by me & not my correct name).
I went onto my google account (on a PC, my iphone and ipad) and tried many different ways to find out where/how this has been changed once again. My settings still say my correct display name, however, whenever I send a new email, the display name is Lauren Smith.
I have not gotten any account security/sign-on warnings. Please help.. Do I need to delete my account? Is it not syncing up on the back end?

Please check the name listed under Send mail as under Gmail:
- Click the gear icon and choose Settings
- Click the Accounts tab
- Look for Send Mail As
- Alongside your GMail address click "edit info"
- Change your name and save changes
If you happen to use an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird, or the default iOS/Android Email app, please look under Settings for those email clients or mail apps to set your name.
Please post an update.

Thanks so much for the information. I was able to change my name back in my iPhone settings like you suggested.
Can you help me understand why it changed on it’s own? Two weeks ago, I believe I was hacked because under my google/gmail account settings my bday and name was changed. I changed it back to the correct info, which fixed my email display name in the iPhone mail app. This week, it changed back to the same wrong name, but it wasn’t changed in my gmail settings.. why/how was it changed in my iPhone settings without me touching it?

-- I suspect something is wrong. Your narrative would imply someone with access to your
Google Account first, and now, your iPhone. Does someone else also have access to your iPhone and the device through which you access your Google account?
My suggestions are as follows:
- Get your device to a Apple Store for a diagnosis and if required, a fresh install of the OS.
- To ensure safety for your Google Account, go through the Gmail security checklist, the account Security Checkup and Make your account more secure.

As for " my Gmail login has blinked on and off before opening my email account"; can you please try the following basic troubleshooting steps and post an update?
- Check, and if required, update your browser to the latest version.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies and then test after signing-in.
- Disable ALL browser extensions, scripts, and add-ons and start the browser again.
- Test using the Gmail Basic HTML Inbox.
- Test in Chrome incognito or Guest mode.
- Test using another supported, updated browser like Firefox, Edge or Safari.
- Test in another device.
- Using a second Gmail account.
- Reset Chrome browser settings and check.
- Go for a malware scan to rule out the possibility of unwanted programs interfering with chrome: Remove unwanted ads, pop-ups & malware
