my Outlook pop connection to gmail won't connect

I have several google email accounts that my Outlook mail client connects via POP access to. Most of them connect fine to pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com, the other with the same exact settings except different username and password is unable to connect. I know the password is correct, because I can login into gmail in a web browser and get access to my email, its just my Outlook mail client is unable to connect via pop access.   This is a gmail email account I have had for years, but only recently added it to Outlook.

I also tried this suggested solution, but it didn’t help:
You may just need to re-verify the client for that particular account - try this: https://accounts.google.com/b/0/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

1. It cannot be my internet/proxy/routing connection because my Outlook mail client is able to connect to pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com for all my other gmail accounts.
2. It cannot be improper mail settings for reason above.
3. It cannot be incorrect password since i can login to gmail webmail

Hi Brikar, have you enabled POP in this Gmail account?  You need to sign into the account using a desktop web browser at mail.google.com, then go to Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.  Enable POP and choose the options thoughtfully.

Otherwise, if you have two-step verification enabled on the account, you will need to use an application specific password in the Outlook settings: Signing in using application-specific passwords

If not, you must enable less secure access: sign into the account using a web browser at https://mail.google.com, then go to Settings > Accounts and Import > Other Google Account settings.  Under Security, scroll down and enable access for less secure apps.  This is essential for IMAP, POP and SMTP connections.

If there is still a problem, try clearing Captcha: visit https://accounts.google.com/DisplayUnlockCaptcha and sign in with the Gmail username and password.  If necessary (it's usually not), enter the letters in the distorted picture then press Continue. This will allow ten minutes for Outlook to register as an approved connection.  Note that you must use the credentials for the account you are adding to Outlook - if the browser is already signed into a different account, you must sign out first. Also, you must trigger Outlook to make the connections within ten minutes.

Hell, I simply changed my password and ended up here. Thank you, "Less secure app access" as "On" fixed it.
