Gmail import won't see Yahoo email

Cox just moved their email to yahoo. I'm trying to get Gmail to add the account. I've tried to add the new email as a POP3 using Yahoo's settings. When I click to Save Changes, nothing happens. I think 15 minutes was long enough to wait. When I try to use Gmaily or import emails, I get "Could not validate this combination of email address and password." I can't forward from Yahoo unless I pay for their premium service, which is not going to happen.

Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong? My password is rather long (26 characters) - could this be an issue? I don't want to change it unless I have to. Could there be something with the fact that it is a cox.net email in a Yahoo email account (not my choice at all).

I'm hoping someone can help me this time. I post in the community regularly with questions and have yet to get a response. Fingers crossed, this time I wil.

First, some browser extensions can cause problems, so try using a private browsing window (guest or incognito, e.g.) or your browser's safe mode to eliminate the extensions.
 
Second, check with Yahoo to find out if you need to use an application specific password for the POP server.

I tried an incognito window. No luck - same results. I found the exact POP3 settings Yahoo says to use. No luck - also same results. I'm wondering if it has something to do with Gmail looking for a Cox server rather than a Yahoo server. I even tried Yahoo's chat bot, which did not understand my question at all!! It looks like my choices are to call Yahoo and hope they don't charge me, or just periodically go and check the Yahoo email since I won't be keeping it as my primary email.
