If you don't want to chat with someone in Google Chat, you can block and report them. You can block direct messages, or block people in spaces and most group messages.

In Google Chat or Gmail, you can choose to:
- Block someone
- Unblock someone
- Block a conversation
- Block & unblock someone in a conversation or space
In Google Chat, you can also:
- Block people when you ignore their message request
- Block & report a space
- Restrict message requests
In other Google products, you can also block people's accounts.
Block someone in Chat or Gmail
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chat app
or Gmail app

- In Gmail: At the bottom, tap Chat
.
- In Gmail: At the bottom, tap Chat
- In your conversation list, tap and hold a name
Block & report.
- If you use a Google Workspace account and the person is in your organization, this option is Block.
- Optional: To report the person for abuse, check the box next to “Also report.”
- If you use a Google Workspace account, you can only report people outside of your organization.
- To confirm, tap Block.
Unblock someone in Chat or Gmail
- In the top left, tap Menu
Settings.
- In Gmail: After opening Settings, select your email address.
- Tap Manage blocked users in Chat

Block a conversation
- In Chat, tap and hold a conversation.
- Tap Block & report.
- If you use a Google Workspace account, this option is “Block this conversation.”
- Optional: To report the conversation for abuse, check the box next to “Report this space as spam or abuse.”
- If you use a Google Workspace account, you can only report people outside your organization.
- To confirm, tap Block.
Block or unblock someone in a conversation or space
- In Chat, open the conversation.
- At the top, tap the conversation name
Manage members.
- Next to the person's name, tap More options
Block or Unblock.
