This error message means that Gmail wasn’t able to send your email. This problem usually goes away quickly, so you can try sending the email again later.

This error message means that we couldn’t reach the server of the person you’re sending an email to. For extra help, contact the customer service department of the other person’s email provider. If you’re trying to send an email to yourfriend@example.com, contact Example’s customer service department.

The company might:

  • Have network problems at the moment
  • Lack up-to-date Mail Exchange (MX) records
  • Be blocking messages from Gmail or moving them into a separate folder
