Use the Salesforce for Gemini extension in Gmail

With the Salesforce for Gemini extension, you can get information from Salesforce and create leads and contacts directly from Gemini in Gmail.

Learn how the Salesforce for Gemini extension works

  • After you install and link the extension to your Salesforce account, Gemini in Gmail might detect when you receive a message from a potential customer. 
  • When you open the message, below the subject line, you get a suggested prompt. To save the lead’s contact information and research their company, click the prompt to open Gemini in Gmail.
  • The Salesforce for Gemini extension is only available: 
    • For eligible Workspace accounts.
    • In English.
    • When you use Gmail in your browser.

Set up the Salesforce for Gemini extension

Important: To use the extension, your Salesforce administrator needs to give your organization access to the extension. If you can’t install the extension, contact your administrator.

  1. On your computer, open your browser.
  2. Download and install the Salesforce for Gemini extension.
  3. Open the extension.
  4. To link the extension to your Salesforce account, follow the on-screen instructions.

Ask Gemini in Gmail for help with Salesforce tasks

  1. On your computer, open Gmail.
  2. At the top right, click Ask Gemini .
  3. To get help with a task, enter a prompt.
    • If you have a relevant message open, enter:
      • “Create a lead in Salesforce”
      • “Create a contact in Salesforce”
      • “View this opportunity in Salesforce”
      • “View this lead in Salesforce”
      • “View this contact in Salesforce"
    • If you’re in the main Gmail inbox view, or have an unrelated message open, enter:
      • “View [lead name] in Salesforce”
      • “View my [opportunity name] opportunity in Salesforce”
      • “Show me the [account name] account in Salesforce”
      • “Create a contact for [contact name] in Salesforce and add [contact email] as their email”
      • “Create a lead in Salesforce with name [lead name] and company [company name]”

Tip: To use the Salesforce in Gemini extension, include “in Salesforce” in your prompt.

Use suggested prompts

When Gemini in Gmail finds a message from a potential customer, you get a Take action on this sales inquiry suggested prompt below the subject when you open the message. You get options to:

  • Create a lead
  • Research the company
  • Reply to the message with details from Salesforce
