Add photos & attachments to your emails

You can send photos and files as attachments in Inbox.

Add photos

You can share images in two ways:

Inline: Photos show up within the text of your email so the other person can easily see them.

As an attachment: This option makes it easier for the other person to download or share your photos. Photos are attached to your email as files.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Inbox app Inbox.
  2. Open or create an email.
  3. In the compose window, tap Attach Attach.
  4. Choose from your most recent photos, take a photo, or tap Open file browser to view all your photos.
  5. Your photo will be added inline.
  6. To send as an attachment, tap the photo and choose Send as attachment.
Attach files

You can attach files stored on your phone and from the web like Google Drive.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Inbox app Inbox.
  2. Open or create an email.
  3. In the compose window, tap Attach Attach.
  4. To view your files, tap Open file browser.
  5. Find the file and select it.

Note: Depending on your version of Android, you may be asked to choose an app in order to select a file. To attach some file types, like ZIP files, you may need to download a file manager from Google Play.

Remove photos & attachments
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Inbox app Inbox.
  2. Open an email.
  3. Tap the photo or attachment preview.
  4. Choose Remove image or Delete attachment.

Troubleshooting

Error: "Oops! The files you are trying to send exceed the 25MB attachment limit."

The total size of your message can be up to 25 megabytes (MB) in size.

To send large attachments, you can use Gmail to insert from Google Drive instead.
