G Suite to G Suite migration

Review the tables below for information on what features are supported and unsupported when running a G Suite to G Suite migration using G Suite Migrate.

Supported features

Gmail data Notes
  • Messages
  • Labels and label structure

  • Email delegation
  • POP & IMAP settings
Messages in Trash and Spam are skipped.
Stars Stars are migrated, but only the default star color and shape is used.
Forwarding settings

External domain forwarding is not supported. Go to Email forwarding.

Drive attachments and hyperlinks Drive attachments and hyperlinks in messages aren't altered during a migration. They continue to link to the original content. 
Scheduled send status The message is migrated, but you must reschedule it manually. 

 

Calendar data Notes
  • Primary and secondary calendars

Calendar permissions During a migration, users are sent an email indicating that a calendar has been shared with them. To filter out these messages, go to Set up rules for content compliance.
Recurring calendar events External domain aliases are not supported.
Calendar event attachments Google Drive items attached to calendar events are reattached if the Drive items are also migrated.
Calendar resources Resources must be recreated manually or by bulk import in the target domain. Their calendars and event associations can be migrated if they’re correctly mapped.

Drive platform-specific files

Supported Drive platform-specific files are:

Drive platform-specific file comments Go to Google comments.
Drive folder and file metadata Folders, files, and versions have modified dates and last modified user metadata is preserved.
Drive sharing for external users Go to Internal content shared with users outside your organization.
Externally-owned files Go to Externally owned Drive files that have been shared with internal users.
Shared drives Go to Shared drives.

Groups data Notes

Groups

Groups must be created in the target environment first. They aren’t automatically created by the migration process. 
Members Roles are migrated, but subscription preferences are skipped.
Settings:
  • Group description
  • Who can see group
  • Who can join group
  • Who can post
  • Who can view conversations
  • Who can view members

Other settings, including member privacy, posting policies, email options, and member moderation, are skipped.

Tasks data Notes

Migrated tasks don't maintain their order or hierarchy.
Recurring Tasks Only the primary recurring task is migrated.
