7 days seems just OK, for the known situation. But more than 3 weeks is frightening to me ! as I published my new application and don't want to wait 3 weeks !!!!
Please @Warlock, could you assure this does not take any longer than 7 days ? let's say 14 days for what you said "or longer".

We are also seeing 14+ day review times for a mobile app that has been listed on the Google Play store for over a year.  This is killing our company's bi-weekly releases, 7 days in understandable, but 14+ seems extreme even with adjusted work schedules.

We aren't having these same problems with iOS they are only delayed an extra 2-3 days.

I'm with the same issue. Pending, but since we are facing an epidemic and I'm sure google needs to protect their employees like any other company.
So even though I have been waiting for a week, I don't mind waiting for that reason

We have one app waiting 3 weeks, others approved within day. They clearly aren't doing FIFO, which is frustrating. The lack of transparency is insane.

I see absolutely no reason why there should be any delay in the first place. We are talking about digital products here. Shouldn't google's employees be working from home. I see absolutely n reason why there should be any form of delay.

Does mentioned waiting time apply for internal test builds (and alpha/beta test builds) or just official submissions to Play Store?

Our update is waiting 11 days now to be approved for Beta release.
I'm wondering if the long review time is connected with update description text translated into 11 languages - including Turkish, Swedish, Hungarian, Polish.

Our first update took 20 days to be reviewed. Our second update is still in review after 19 days. We've contacted Google multiple times but there's no transparency and we are told to just wait. This is seriously hurting our business since we can't release any content updates and bugfixes for a game that's been out for 3 years with 300.000 monthly users.

I thought we are the only one experiencing this. They should at least sent some email as to why it is getting longer a few days is okay but its about TWENTY (20) days and our updates never reached our user. User lost is constantly increasing due to previous bug in release, so bad that user lost will be greater than acquired user by next month.

I wonder how the review is going on because some of my colleague app's update (app that is not related to any medical field, just a regular app) with their account just took hours to reach and get live in the store. What is the heck happened here? It appears to me that there is some prioritization going on in developer account aside from those in medical field and if not then maybe there is something wrong in automation of the app review that some update such as target countries make the app review stuck as it may need some human intervention. Please at least let us know, it is better than guessing all day.

Why do they have to review app updates? I haven't changed any permissions and the app is in the store for years now.

Question, does Google Play's TOS allow us to use 3rd party app update solutions? Like check a json file on the network, which points to a new apk? I will include something like this in the next release, and avoid google play just altogether for updates.

Looks like i can answer my question:

An app distributed via Google Play may not modify, replace, or update itself using any method other than Google Play's update mechanism.

I was in home office for 2 months, i understand that people had difficulty to adjust the new situation for the first month, but beyond that this is unacceptable. During this time i updated my app twice. The  first time i had to wait around 6-7 days, the second time 4hours (which is the norm). The 3rd and last time it was pending for 2 weeks. I just resubmitted with a different version code, hoping for... somthing?%

Image if any of our apps would break, and you just couldn't update your app, losing users. A bigboy company like Google should handle this. And the pandemic is not an excuse anymore, it just the sign that they are unable to adapt, looking for a cheap excuse. Nice service for 30% cut. Top shelf.

This is insane! More than 20 days to approve an update for an app with 1.000.000 users in the store for years. The update will be deprecated before it can get approved! What is the problem Google? You can't do smart working such as any other company in the world? I get the Apple version of my app reviewed in one day!
marked this as an answer
Relevant Answer
Unfortunately, this is a big mistake from Google, logically, the program does not need this time for review, previously it needs a few hours or a day to two days, in these times with Virus Corona logically that takes twice the time as a maximum. But what is happening is the inability to manage the application review from Google. In the case of other stores, the time for reviewing their applications has not changed.

Google please, provide us a more transparent update instead of some vague messages like "Due to adjusted work schedules at this time, we are currently experiencing longer than usual review times. Please expect review times of 7 days or longer."

My app used to get published in several hours up till 5th Jun. I published another version on 5th Jun and then it's stuck until today. I contacted Play Store support and she gave me the same response as above, no more details. Fortunately I don't have any critical crashes or bugs but this is still frustrated as I have new features and improvements to roll out to users, I hope they can provide us a more transparent update on this issue.

Our app has passed alpha track review but when we moved the same build to release, it just sais 'Processing update' for 9 days now. This is the first release for our app.

I reached out to Google's support and got the following answer: "While the situation is currently evolving, app review times may fluctuate, and processing can take a few hours or up to 7 days or longer in exceptional cases, as it depends on the review time that your app is subject to."

Any idea what those "exceptional cases" are?

Perhaps if you do a 100% rollout , then the time for revision is reduced?

Our app has developed a critical bug where users can't see their stock portfolio (the main part of the app) and we are receiving so many complaints from angry users. It has been 2 days since we submitted the update, but it hasn't been made live yet. It is frustrating that there is no solution to such extraordinary circumstances. Our initial release last week only took 2 hours. Afterwards we found out the app crashed due to wrong release build configuration. After submitting a hotfix, the app is now in review for 8 days! We went down to a 1.9 star rating, thousands of users who mail us and whom we have to inform that Google makes us wait. Never had a problem like this with Apple. Pandemic or not, this is really absurd! There is no way to expedite the release.

In my case, the last deeper review took 14 days to get approved (1~2 months ago).
and I got bad luck again, the recent update is waiting for deeper review over 14 days.

the recent update has no actual changes but only the end of the A/B experiment but it's taking over 14 days.
so I guess the deeper review is completely random.

So just changing my app from unpublished to publish takes almost a week and was just rejected, seriously fix this.

Yeah i understand any changes submitted can trigger "processing update" but please atleast know when JUST the publish button was submitted. Setting your approved app from unpublished to publish requires review? No way

As an established app we normally see release times of about 1 to 3 hours for smaller updates so manage to sneak in releases without having to make backwards-compatible API's.

Today has been over 12 hours which so far is nothing like the 3 weeks seen on this chat but it changes everything. No more breaking changes and versioned API's from now on!

Getting it approved in the Amazon App store so that we can send users there to update it.
Please please google prioritise more automated testing during this phase as we know you have to protect staff and we understand but we also need to survive ourselves.
