Hi alfred,

Welcome to the Google Play Help Forum. Let's see if clearing the cache helps the gaming issue you are having. First, make sure you have a strong internet connection. Next, go to Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Games > CLEAR CACHE. Next, restart your device and see if the issue is still there. If the issue is still there, go back and uninstall updates on the app. Again, restart and see if the profiles stays public.

Cheers,

-Ian

Hi alfred,

Try starting your device in safe mode and not running any apps you've installed. This is to test if one or more of your installed apps is causing these problems. If you don't experience these problems while in safe mode that's a good indication that apps you've installed are the sources of your issues.

[Please note: running safe mode on your Nexus device can change your widget and wallpaper settings]

If you continue to experience this even in safe mode, try resetting your device by visiting Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset and then checking to see if the problems persist. Make sure to back up any data before executing this suggestion.

If the issue is still there or you don't want to do a factory data reset, then I recommend you contact the Google Play team for help. They are a nice bunch and can really dive into the root of the issue, beyond what I can do in this forum. Please give them a try.

You can reach them from this link here: https://support.google.com/googleplay#topic=3364260&contact=1

Alternatively, you can phone them from this link here: https://support.google.com/store/answer/6178715?rd=3

Best of luck,

-Ian

I had the same Issue. I could resolve it by opening the google play games and then edit my profile. When i opened the edit mode of my profile i was ask to add a player id. After i added an ID i was able to change it to public.

I hope that helps.

I was about to ask that same question. I can't find an "edit" button anywhere in the app?

Open the play games app and tap on profile image / card when the app is launched. On my profile had a pen icon in the top right corner. Beside the search icon. When i tabbed on the pen then the edit profile screen opened.

My play games version is 3.6.25

Hmm no pen icon here.

Anyway. I've gotten word it's being investigated and probably has something to do with the rollout of the custom gamer id feature. That rollout should be finished in a week or so, so hopefully that fixes it.

Still. Annoying as hell :P

Boot phone in Safe Mode, then Disable Google Play Games from Settings. Once it has been replaced with the factory version, re-enable it. That worked on my Moto G2
