You can use shelves to organize your books and help keep track of your library.
Create a shelf
- Open the Google Play Books app

- Tap Library
Shelves
Create New.
- To name your new shelf, tap the title.
- To save, tap Done
.
Add or remove books on a shelf
- Open the Google Play Books app
.
- Tap Library.
- Next to the book you want to add or remove, tap More
.
- To add a book, tap Add to shelf. Then, tap the desired shelf.
- To remove a book, tap the book. Then, tap More
Remove from shelves.
Delete a shelf
Tip: When you delete a shelf, your books will not be removed from your account.
- Open the Google Play Books app
.
- Tap Library
Shelves.
- Choose the shelf you want to delete.
- Tap Menu
Delete shelf.
Find specific books using filters
Important: These filters are only available on Play Books app version 5.3 and up.
Find a book in your library quickly with filters. Your filters appear automatically in your library based on the books you have.
If you don’t see any filters, it's because none of your books share any attributes.
Follow these steps to turn filters on or off:
- Open the Google Play Books app

- Tap Library.
- Tap on the filter(s) you want to apply.
- You can apply more than one filter to narrow down results.
