Cancel or change a subscription on Google Play

Subscriptions on Google Play are renewed automatically unless you unsubscribe. If you don't want your subscription to be renewed, you can cancel it on Google Play. You can also change the payment method. Sometimes, you can change the subscription frequency.

Subscriptions and memberships can include magazines, newspapers, streaming services and other apps.

Cancel a subscription

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store Google Play.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Subscriptions.
  3. Tap the subscription that you want to cancel.
  4. Tap Cancel subscription.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Important: Uninstalling an app will not automatically stop your subscription. You must cancel your subscription to end your subscription. If you uninstall the app without cancelling your subscription, you will still be charged. If an app for which you've purchased a subscription is removed from Google Play, your future subscription will be automatically cancelled, but past subscriptions will not be refunded.

Access after you cancel

When you cancel a subscription, you will still have access to your subscription for the remainder of time for which you have already paid.

For example, if you purchased a one-year subscription on 1 Jan for $10 and decide to cancel your subscription on 1 July, you will have access to the subscription until 31 Dec. But you will not be charged another yearly subscription of $10 the following 1 Jan.
