View or edit your notifications in Play Games

With Google Play Games Play Games, you can control what kinds of notifications you receive, who can send them to you, and who can see your activity. Here are some examples of notifications you may see:

  • Multiplayer notifications: An invitation for a match or if it's your turn to play.
  • Notifications for requests: Someone sends you an in-game gift or requests a gift from you.
  • Notifications for quests: A game lets you know about a quest or if you've earned enough experience points (XP) to level up.

Change your multiplayer notification settings from Play Games

By default, Play Games will notify you about multiplayer game requests.

Mute or unmute all notifications from Play Games settings

To edit general settings, notification settings, and to view muted games:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Play Games app Play Games.
  2. In the top right, tap More More and then Settings.
  3. To change your notification settings, toggle ‘Multiplayer notifications’ on or off.
Mute or unmute notifications from a specific game

From the game details page:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Play Games app Play Games.
  2. Tap the game you want to turn off notifications for.
  3. In the top right, tap More More and then Mute.
  4. To turn on notifications again, tap Unmute.

From a gift or invite notification: 

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, tap the notification. 
  2. In the top right of the details page, tap More More and then Mute.

From the Play Games settings:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Play Games app Play Games.
  2. In the top right, tap More More and then Settings.
  3. Under "Muted games,"  tap the game you want to receive notifications from.
  4. When prompted, tap Unmute.

See your latest notifications on Android TV

To see your latest game gifts, requests, and multiplayer invitations:

  1. On your Android TV, open the Play Games app Play Games.
  2. Select Inbox. You can accept or decline invites after selecting them individually.

Troubleshoot notifications 

If you've tried to change the settings for notifications and are still having trouble, try these steps.

Still getting notifications

If you're still seeing Multiplayer, Request, or Quest notifications

  • In Games Settings, make sure Multiplayer, Request, and Quest are all turned off. OR
  • In the games Settings, make sure the specific game’s notifications are muted. To check, open the game and then tap More More.

If you're still seeing other notifications for games:

You can disable the game’s notifications from the Google Settings app Google Settings. Learn how to control your Android notifications.

Not getting notifications 

  1. In Games Settings, make sure Play Games notifications are turned on.

  2. In Games Settings, make sure the specific game’s notifications are not muted.  Muted games show up at the bottom of the Settings. 

  3. From the Google Settings app Google Settings, tap Play Games, and unmute notifications from the app. Learn how to control your Android notifications.

If all these settings for the game are on and you're still not getting any, contact the game's developer.
