Download movies & TV to watch offline

You can download a video so you can watch it anywhere, even when you don't have an internet connection.

Download videos

You can download a video that you bought on up to five devices. If you rented a video, you’ll only be able to download it onto 1 device. To watch or download a rented video on another device, make sure to remove it from the first device.

  1. Make sure your Android phone or tablet is connected to Wi-Fi or your mobile network.
  2. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Movies & TV app Play Movies.
  3. Tap Library.
  4. Find the movie or TV episode you’d like to download.
  5. Tap download Download.
    • To remove or stop a download in progress, tap Download Download.
    • To find downloaded videos, tap Menu Menu and then Settings and then Manage downloads.

Note: You won't be able to download extra videos onto your Android phone.

Download using mobile data

You can change your settings to download using mobile data. Downloading your video using mobile data may result in additional data charges from your carrier. 

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Movies & TV app Play Movies.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings and then Downloads and then Network and then Download on any network.

Delete a downloaded video

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Movies & TV app Play Movies.
  2. Next to a downloaded video, tap the red check mark Downloaded.
