Fix issues with Google Play Newsstand

If you're having issues with the Google Play Newsstand app, these troubleshooting steps may help.

My Newsstand app is crashing or content won't load

If the Newsstand app closes, shuts down, or specific content is blank, clear your cache and data on the Google Play Newsstand app.

Keep in mind clearing your app's data and cache erases your Google Play Newsstand settings. This means any Newsstand content you've downloaded to your device will be removed, and you will need to download it again.

On an Android device
  1. Open your device's main Settings menu.
  2. Under "Device," tap Storage
  3. Tap Apps (depending on your device, this may be different).
  4. Tap Google Play Newsstand Play Newsstand. Select Clear cache and Clear data.
On an iPhone or iPad

To clear your app cache on your iOS device, you'll need to sign out and sign back in to the Google Play Newsstand app.

  1. Open the Google Play Newsstand app Play Newsstand.
  2. Tap the Menu icon Menu.
  3. Next to your account, tap the down arrow Down arrow > Manage accounts > Manage > Remove.
  4. Sign back in.

I don't see the latest magazine issue available on Google Play

There can sometimes be brief delays with new issues becoming available, so we'd recommend checking again in 24 hours. If the latest issue still isn't available, contact our support team.

My magazine isn't displaying correctly

If you downloaded a magazine to your device and it's missing pages or certain pages aren't loading, try the following.

Step 1: Remove and re-download the magazine
  1. Open the Google Play Newsstand app Play Newsstand.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap Library.
  3. Look for a check icon Tick on the magazine that has been downloaded to your device.
  4. On the magazine, tap More More Menu > Remove download > More More Menu > Download for offline reading.
  5. View your magazine again. If it still isn't displaying correctly, go to step 2.
Step 2: Clear cache and data

If your device has a strong Internet connection, clear your cache and data on the Google Play Newsstand app.

Keep in mind clearing your app's data and cache erases your Google Play Newsstand settings. This means any Newsstand content you've downloaded to your device will be removed, and you will need to download it again.

  1. Open your device's main Settings menu.
  2. Under "Device," tap Storage
  3. Tap Apps (depending on your device, this may be different).
  4. Tap Google Play Newsstand Play Newsstand . Select Clear cache and Clear data.

I don't see my purchased magazines

Here's what to do if you purchased a magazine on the Google Play Store but it's not appearing in the Google Play Newsstand app on your device.

Check your account

If you're not seeing a magazine you bought on your Google Play Newsstand app, you might have purchased the issue or subscription using a different Google Account.

To check the account you're using on Google Play Newsstand:

  1. Open Google Play Newsstand Play Newsstand.
  2. Tap the Menu icon Menu.
  3. At the top of the main menu, you'll see which account you're using.
  4. To select a different account, tap the down arrow Down arrow.

My news feed is outdated

If your newsfeed or library isn't updating and you're seeing old articles in the Play Newsstand app, try refreshing.

Refresh your news feed
  1. Open the Google Play Newsstand app Play Newsstand.
  2. Swipe down on the screen to refresh your feed.
