Change a video's language settings

Movies and TV shows on Google Play Movies & TV may have different languages available for audio playback or captions (subtitles).

Find language & caption details

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Play Movies app Play Movies.
  2. Tap on movie or TV show.
  3. Scroll to “More information.”
  4. Find "Audio language" and "Captions."
Tip: Set your language settings before downloading your video. You won’t be able to change the audio language once a video has been downloaded. In some countries and regions, the audio language may not be set by the desired language.

Change audio language

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Play Movies & TV app Play Movies.
  2. Tap Menu Menuand then Settings and then Audio language.
  3. Select from the available languages.
Tip: Videos with dubbed audio will have "Dubbed" in the title of the movie. 

Change caption (subtitle) settings

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Play Movies & TV app Play Movies.
  2. At the bottom of your player, tap the CC button and then select a language.

Fix problems with captions

If captions don’t appear after you turn them on, contact Google Play support.
