Remove a Play app from your Android device

Google PlayAndroid devices come with the Google Play Store app already installed. Many devices also have other Google Play apps, like Play Books and Play Games installed by default.

Disable the Play Store app

Important: You can’t delete the Play Store app but you can disable it. We don’t recommend that you disable the Play Store app because other apps might not work properly without it.

  1. From the bottom of your screen, swipe up.
  2. Touch and hold the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  3. Tap App info and then Disable .

Re-enable the Play Store app

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Apps and then Google Play Store Google Play.
  3. Tap Enable.

Delete other Play apps

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  2. At the top right, tap the Profile icon.
  3. Tap Manage apps & devices and then Manage.
  4. Tap the name of the app you want to delete.
  5. Tap Uninstall.
Tip: If you delete a Play app, your purchases don’t go away. You can add the app back to your phone later.
