Upload PDF and EPUB files to your library

You can read PDF and EPUB documents with Google Play Books. When you upload PDF and EPUB files to Play Books, you can read them on any device you sign in to.

With EPUB documents, you can also use bookmarks, highlights, and notes across your devices.

Upload PDF & EPUB files

  1. On your device, open Google Play Books Play Books.
  2. At the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap Play Books settings.
  4. Check the box next to Enable PDF uploading.
  5. Download a PDF or EPUB file to your device.
  6. Open your Downloads or Files app.
  7. Find the file.
  8. Tap More More and then Open With and then Play Books or Upload to Play Books.
  9. To find uploaded files in the Play Books app, tap Library and then Uploads.
Alternatively, you can upload files to Play Books through Gmail.
  1. Attach the PDF or EPUB you want to upload to an email.
  2. Send the email to yourself.
  3. Tap the attachment and then Upload to Play Books.
Tip: You only need to check Enable PDF uploading if you want to upload a PDF. You can upload an EPUB from your email without changing settings in the Play Books app.
