IARC distinguishes between content created by the developer of an app and content created and shared by users of the app. Since these apps typically do not contain much content beyond what users provide, the follow-up questions in this section focus on user-generated content.
It is important to note that this section should only be chosen for apps that actually meet the definition and not for apps that simply connect to apps that meet the definition. For example, Facebook should be categorized here, but an app that just uses Facebook Connect to authenticate users should not. Similarly, apps that allow users to share what they are doing in the app via Twitter would not be considered Social Networks, as that feature is not the primary purpose of the app.
