App Indexing on Google Search

With App Indexing, users who have installed your app can open links from Google mobile search directly in your app.

To enable App Indexing:

  1. Enable deep links in your app
  2. Create an association between your app and the website that contains the content of the app.

Request association between your app and your website

  1. Sign in to Play Console.
  2. Click All apps.
  3. Select the application that you'd like to verify.
  4. On the left menu, click SetupAdvanced settings.
  5. Under "App Indexing" click Add website.
  6. Enter the URL of the website's homepage. We recommend omitting the protocol (http/https) and writing the domain name only (for example, "example.com").
  7. Click Send verification request.
  8. A request will be sent to the owner of the site in Search Console. If the Play Console account and the Search Console account are the same, the association might be auto-approved immediately. Otherwise:
    • If you are an owner of the site in Search Console, you can click "Accept" in the message and then approve the request, or you can navigate directly to the Google Search Console associations page  and find and approve the request.
    • If you're not an owner of the site in Search Console, you'll have to wait for an owner to approve your request.
Note: If there are multiple Search Console properties associated with this site (for example, there are Search Console properties for both http://example.com and https://example.com) and you request association without a protocol ("example.com") then Google Play will choose one of these Search Console properties to associate with.

Remove a website association

You can delete an association with a verified website either from Play Console or from Search Console. You don't need to do both.

From Play Console

  1. Sign in to Play Console.
  2. Click All apps.
  3. Select the application that you'd like to cancel the association for.
  4. On the left menu, click SetupAdvanced settings.
  5. Select the "App Indexing" tab.
  6. Next to the website that you'd like to remove, click Remove.

From Search Console

You must be an owner of the property (site) in Search Console to manage associations in Search Console. If you are an owner in Search Console, follow the instructions here.
