How Google Assistant protects your privacy

At Google, we respect and protect your privacy with strong security infrastructure, responsible data practices, and easy-to-use privacy tools that put you in control. Google uses your information to make services like Google Assistant more helpful and personalized for you. We have built controls that are easy to use so you can choose the privacy settings that are right for you.

How Google Assistant keeps your data private

Based on what we’ve heard from people, we want to clearly address some of the top privacy and security concerns you might have with Google Assistant.

You asked: Does Google sell my personal information from Google Assistant?

Google never sells your personal information -- that includes your audio recordings. To learn more about Google Assistant’s privacy approach and features, go to Google’s Safety Center.

You asked: Does Google give my personal information from Google Assistant to the government?

When Google receives government requests for user information, we carefully review each request to make sure it satisfies applicable laws. If a request asks for too much information, we try to narrow it, and in some cases, we object to producing any information at all. You can find the full policy at policies.google.com/terms/information-requests. Learn more in Google’s Transparency Report.

You asked: Does Google Assistant share my child’s personal information with third parties?

Google Assistant does not share personal information from children’s Google Accounts managed by Family Link, such as your child's name, email address, voice recordings, or precise location, with any third parties. Developers of Actions for Families also agree not to solicit personal information from users. Kids who use a Google Account managed by Family Link can only use non-Google Actions that participate in the "For families" program. Learn more about how non-Google apps work with your kid’s Google Account.
