Diagnostic and other data collected on Google Pixel Buds

Diagnostics

We are constantly looking to improve the experience that you have with Pixel Buds. The Google Pixel Buds app reports information about how you use the app and headphones. This data evaluates reliability, usability, and feature use.

Pixel Buds periodically perform brief, local acoustic self-checks. This calibrates audio quality and detects hardware issues regardless of your Usage & Diagnostics settings.

Specifically, the Google Pixel Buds app collects and reports anonymized data about how you use the headphones, including:

  • Information about gestures you may use (increasing volume, decreasing volume, answering calls, ending calls)
  • Bluetooth® connection and disconnection events
  • Crash events
  • Additional diagnostic and usage data

To disable sending this diagnostic data, you can uncheck the "Send Diagnostics" checkbox when you first set up the device, or turn it off in your Google Pixel Buds settings.

  1. Depending on your device, you can change the settings for your earbuds in different ways:

    • On a Pixel phone with Android 10+: Tap Settings and then Connected Devices and then Settings  by your paired Pixel Buds name.
    • On other Android devices: Open the Google Pixel Buds app Pixel Buds.
  2. Tap More settings and then About.
  3. Turn off Send diagnostics.

Tip: Turning off "Send diagnostics" won't affect your Google Assistant settings
