Fix Pixel Buds that won't charge

Important: Allow your earbuds’ battery to fully empty before recharging them to 100%.

If you're having trouble charging your Pixel Buds or their charging case, it can be due to a few different issues. Sometimes, it's a simple fix like a poor connection or a dirty charging port.

This guide will walk you through common scenarios and provide troubleshooting steps to help you get your Pixel Buds back to a full charge.

Troubleshooting charging problems

Step 1: Make sure your Pixel Buds are clean, the charging case has power, and you have the charging cord

Tip: Your Google Pixel Buds and Google Pixel Buds A come with a USB-A to USB-C cable.

  • Clean the charging contacts: Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the magnetic charging contacts on both your Pixel Buds and inside the charging case. Learn how to clean your Pixel Buds.

  • Charge the case: Make sure your charging case is fully charged. You can check the case's status light if it's charging properly. Learn how to charge the charging case.

  • Check the charging cord: Ensure your charging cable is undamaged and free of any obstructions.

  • For wireless charging: Try repositioning the case on the charging surface.

Step 2: Put your Pixel Buds back in the charging case

  1. Check the eartips: Make sure the eartips are securely attached to your earbuds.

  2. Place the earbuds in the case: Put each Pixel Bud back into its charging case.

  3. Check on the status light: The status light on the case should blink when each earbud is correctly placed. If a light doesn't appear, gently adjust the earbud until the light comes on.

Tip: You can also try to close and open the lid. This helps to adjust your buds into the exact right sitting orientation.

Step 3: Charge your Pixel Buds for at least 30 minutes

  1. Plug in the case: While your earbuds are inside, connect the charging case to a power source.

  2. Charge for 30 minutes: Let your Pixel Buds charge for at least 30 minutes before trying to pair them again.
