Learn how to set up and manage your Pixel Buds with your phone, tablet, or laptop. Get started with the steps below.

1: Set up your buds

How to Connect Your Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 to Your Phone

On your Pixel device

Important: This works with Android 6 version and later.

  1. Open the earbuds case but keep the earbuds inside.
  2. Make sure your phone is unlocked and Bluetooth is on.
  3. Press and hold the pairing button until the light starts to blink for 3 seconds.
  4. On your phone, tap the Pixel Buds pairing notification.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

On your computer

  1. Open the earbuds case but keep the earbuds inside.
  2. On your computer, make sure that Bluetooth is on.
  3. Press and hold the pairing button until the light starts to blink for 3 seconds.
  4. Click Google Buds and then Connect.

Get the latest firmware updates on your device

On your phone

Make sure your Pixel or Android phone is on the latest firmware version and your Pixel Buds app is on the latest version.

To check on Pixel:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Connected devices and then Settings and then More Settings and then Firmware update.

For other Android devices:

  1. Download the Pixel Buds app from Google Play Store.
  2. Tap Pixel Buds app and then More Settings and then Firmware update.

On your computer

Set up your Pixel buds on ChromeOS, MacOS and Windows through mypixelbuds.google.com. Learn how to change your Pixel Buds settings through the web companion app.

  1. When you wear your buds, make sure the “R” and “L” icons face toward you and are upright as you tuck them in your ear.
  2. To secure the stabilizer, twist your earbuds.
  3. If needed, try another eartip.

    Tip: Each ear might need a different eartip size.

  4. To find the most comfortable fit, save your eartips to compare sizes.

4: Store & charge your buds

Store & charge your buds

  1. To charge your earbuds: Insert them into the correct slots until the indicator light turns on and the lid closes. To assist with re-insertion, you’ll find left and right icons for each earbud.
  2. To charge your case: Plug it into a power source. An orange light on the case indicates that your case is charging.

Tip: Your Pixel Buds charge inside a charged case even if it’s not connected to a power source.

5: Clean your Pixel Buds

How to Clean Your Google Pixel Buds Pro 2

To get better audio quality and consistent charging, clean your earbuds regularly. Learn how to clean your Pixel buds.

Cleaning steps:

  1. Pour regular water or micellar water into a cup, enough to dip your toothbrush.
  2. Dip the toothbrush in regular water or micellar water and swish to saturate the bristles. Hold your earbud, then brush the mesh in deep circular motion for 15 seconds.

  3. Blot the earbud on a paper towel to dry the earbud mesh. Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice.
  4. Dip your toothbrush in regular water or micellar water. Swirl your toothbrush to clean earwax from the bristles.

  5. Brush the mesh one last time with deep circular motions for 15 seconds.
  6. Blot the earbud on a paper towel and air dry for up to 2 hours to ensure it's fully dry.
