If you're the family manager, you can add a second parent to your family group.

To add someone as a parent to your family group, they need to be in your family group, and be 18 or older.

Play Store app

  1. Open the Play Store app Google Play.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then  Account and then Family and then Manage family members and then Manage parental privileges.
  3. Choose someone to add or remove as a parent.
  4. Tap Confirm.

Family Link app

  1. Open the Family Link app Family Link.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then  Family group and then Manage parental privileges.
  3. Choose someone to add or remove as a parent.
  4. Tap Confirm.

Google One app

  1. Open the Google One app Google One.
  2. At the top, tap Settings.
  3. Tap Manage family settings and then Manage family group.
  4. Tap Manage parental privileges.
  5. Choose someone to add or remove as a parent.
  6. Tap Confirm.
Remove yourself as a parent

If the family manager added you as a parent, you can remove your parental privileges.

Play Store app 

  1. Open the Play Store app Google Play.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Account and then Family and then Manage family members and then More More and then Remove parental privileges.
  3. Tap Confirm.

Family Link app

  1. Open the Family Link app Family Link.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then  Family group and then More More and then Remove parental privileges.
  3. Tap Confirm.

Parental privileges

Parents have most of the privileges that the family manager has, including things such as:

  • Using Family link to manage a child’s Google Account, including managing settings such as Google activity, screen time and location
  • Approving Google Play purchases or downloads made using the family payment method if purchase approvals are on
  • Seeing purchases made by family members using the family payment method
  • Changing family members' purchase approval settings on Google Play

Only the family manager can:

Any adult in your family can subscribe to Google One. The Google One plan manager doesn't need to be the same person as the family manager.
