Increasingly Horrible feed?
The harder I try to customize my Google News feed the worse it gets. Every day I see something on there that ruins my mood for hours or even days. I have tried blocking topics I don't like and this only causes even worse topics to show up. It is starting to feel like targeted harassment or psychological torture. Why in the world would anyone (wrongly) think that any of these articles are things I could want to see? I called the 24/7 help number and a very nice lady could only tell me to post something here. I don't know what more I can do here. I feel almost violated by the kinds of articles that were being suggested, even after I spent a lot of time and effort trying to curate them.
I really like Google's services and I've relied on them for a long time. Should I just not use Google News?

Hi Samual,
I'm sorry for your experience.
When you get stories from a news source you don’t want to see or about a topic you aren’t interested in you can tap the 3-dots icon in a corner of the story card and tap Hide all stories from [NEWS SOURCE] for hiding the stories from the source, or tap Fewer stories like this and the thumbs down icon for getting fewer stories on the topic.
You may need to take these actions several times so that Google News can learn your content preferences. More information on personalizing content is available here:

If this still doesn't work for you, the best way of letting the Google News team know is to send your feedback. In the Google News app tap your profile image, tap Help and feedback, and then tap Send feedback. Please note this is a one-way communication channel with the product team for reporting technical issues or feature suggestions, not a support channel, and no reply should be expected.

You've summed up perfectly what is wrong with Google News and how it could be put right, but Google are too big, there isn't a way to actually reach a person or department that will listen and feedback their reasoning for making no changes.
I live in the UK and I constantly get stories about African airlines and their choice of plane manufacture and seat configurations, something I've never had an interest in.
I've searched for planning info for the area I live in and now every day I get planning stories from every English county.
The most annoying is exactly like your Risk Astley quote.
A few months ago I clicked a story about Harry Styles, shortly afterwards every other story was about him, I clicked and clicked to dismiss his name, it went quiet for a while and then he sneaked back in via other stories where he was mentioned, yet no way to dismiss him unless I deleted the entire source.
It's a horrible way to read news of absolutely no interest...

The public should sue google for wasting their time ,and causing lasting pain and aggravation.I feel I have a case. This sites news stories and articles of interest are a bloody joke.Every article and story in google is an ambush on the hapless user of this site. You click on a topic of interest and are lead through endless pages of bullshit avoiding the main point of the article, maybe 50 pages later and thousands of adds you finally get to the end,by that time your hair has grown grey, or whats left of it that you didn't tear out in frustration.Like how much time does google think we have to cread an article? We have faith it is one page...only to be led in a wild goose chase of rambling crap and adds.Google can't be trusted.
Google you should be deregistered as a news presenter and an app,you should be ashamed of this ridiculous debacle of blatant money grubbing add placement and meandering never ending stories ,just wasting your users time and putting the hackles of disgust into their morning, completely screwing up their day.My only regret is I can't dole this out to you with a similar next page format you use with a couple of sentences beating around the bush add infinitum. So you are indeed privileged to get to the end of my article so quickly and on one page.So here it is, just like your articles should be- nice, easy and concise....GOOGLE IS SHIT....Got it...good at least I didn't waste your time and give you the snakes and ladders 50 page add version like you do either. Your just SHITS.....The end.

Forget about trying to give users advice. Go back to your programmers, accept you have something flawed, and put forth the effort to fix it. I'm okay giving things up. I'll do it to Google, too.

This simply does not work. I've hidden "Manchester United" and several other new sources, plus clicked the 'fewer stories like this' countless times and I still get inundated with football news - even from hidden sources and without the option to hide all anymore - see attachment
Anyone got a decent new alternative? I find it really odd that you can't hide entire subjects that you have zero interest in.

I constantly try to train my feed, but it just gets worse. Their algorithms seem to be continually getting worse. Pinoy Teleserye
