Fix problems with Google News

Can’t open Google News app

Try updating your Google News app Google News appCheck for app updates on the App Store.

App doesn’t refresh

  • To see new stories, open your app and swipe down on the screen.
  • Check that you’re connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  • If your app closes or specific content is blank, remove the app and then get it again from the App Store.
    Note: You'll need to save any saved content again.

Don’t see purchased content

If your issue or subscription doesn’t show in your “Favorites,” check that you’re signed in with the account that bought it.

  1. Open your Google News app Google News app.
  2. At the top right, tap your photo.
  3. By your username, tap the Down arrow Down Arrow.

Can’t play YouTube videos inside app

Try updating your YouTube app YouTube appCheck for app updates on the App Store.

Don’t see personalized content

  1. Check that you’re signed in.
  2. If you recently renamed a conflicting account, try signing in with the new name.
  3. Reset your Google News interests. Learn how to improve what you see.

Block or unblock people who share

If someone is sharing stories with you directly via Google News, and you’d like to stop them, you can block that account. Learn how to block or unblock people.

Note: This feature is only available if you're signed in to your Google Account.

Report spam or inappropriate content

You can also share other feedback about Google News. In your app, at the top right, tap your photo and then Help & feedback and then Send feedback. Or on news.google.com, at the bottom left, click Send feedback.
